Medical Clinical Educators
The Medical Clinical Educators (MCEs) are involved with the early stages of the appointment of an IMG, assisting with elements of their orientation and with developing a personalised, competency and goal-based learning plan to help the IMG meet clinical, professional and organisational standards. In order to do this MCEs work with senior medical clinical staff who are responsible for the supervision and education of junior medical staff, including the IMGs. They assist with and monitor clinical process and competence, and document an IMGs’ progress towards the ongoing requirements for general registration (as defined by the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria).
The Medical Clinical Educator program funded by the Department of Health currently operates in seventeen hospitals throughout Victoria, ranging from large metropolitan teaching hospitals to small remote community hospitals.
The PMCV supports the Medical Clinical Educators with the provision of 4 workshops per year.
