University Hospital Geelong, Victoria (Barwon Health) is experiencing a significant period of growth in the number of PGY 3 + Residents required to staff the PGY 3 + positions in 2017 and onwards.
Additionally there are two Pre Set Surgical Unaccredited Registrars positions available for 2017
The Resident HMO 3-5 roles have available rotations of general nature including: ED, HITH, Rehab ( Ortho and Neuro), Mental Health, O and G, Geriatrics, Orthopaedics, Cardiology, ICU, St John of God Geelong, Epworth Geelong, Hamilton, and nights/ evenings/ weekend ward cover at Geelong Hospital.
Rotations in Anaesthetics and Paediatrics are not currently available for 2017 however those JMO’s who have spent a year with Barwon are ideally positioned to gain access to these exposures in their second year at Barwon Health.
Note that interested applicants must have General Registration with APHRA and have at least 2 years’ experience working as a doctor in Australia.

Health Service: Mildura Base Hospital
Mildura Base Hospital is a 160 bed (Level 1) Tertiary teaching hospital. The Hospital provides a range of acute services including emergency, maternity, intensive care, general medicine and surgery, medical imaging, pathology, dialysis, mental health (inpatient and community services) and a range of ambulatory services.
Mildura Base Hospital’s O & G unit consists of 4 birthing suites and 15 beds catering for approximately 900 births per annum. There are currently 4 Staff / VMO Consultants.
The O & G HMO will be responsible for the day to day running of the labour ward in conjunction with the O & G Consultants, O & G Registrar and senior Midwives. Duties will include participation in daily ward rounds, general management of obstetric and gynaecological patients, attending to the Emergency Department to review patients, assistance in Theatre and baby checks prior to discharge.
A minimum of 12 months Australian Hospital experience is essential in order to be considered for the positions.
