Haematology New Clinical Trainees – Central Appointments Process 2022
The Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) administers the Allocation and Placement Service on behalf of the health services who offer Haematology Advanced Trainee positions in Victoria, Tasmania and Northern Territory, and to candidates applying for these posts. The Service is conducted at the request of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) Specialty Group Coordinator and Program Administrator.
This Match is only for new applicants to Joint and Clinical Haematology Advanced Training Programs (including Paediatric Haematology).
Existing Haematology Trainees (Victoria, Tasmania and Northern Territory) will have been contacted by RCPA with instructions for reapplication.

Centralised Interview for Joint Training positions
- Candidate interviews for Joint Training positions scheduled to be conducted on Tuesday 30 August.
- Interviews will be conducted by RCPA using MS Teams.
- Interviews will be live but will also be recorded to allow scoring. Recordings will be deleted after three weeks.
- Interviews for CHAT Training positions will be conducted live, face-to-face, on the same date.

Eligibility criteria
Joint Haematology Trainee
- successful applicants will be accepted into Joint Haematology Training.
- most Trainees will commence in a clinical position, but on occasion training may commence in the Laboratory.
- 12-15 positions available 2023
- Must have: MBBS or equivalent, completed all BPT training time, passed RACP Examination
Clinical Haematology Trainee (CHAT)
- successful applicants will be accepted into single discipline Clinical Haematology Training.
- number of positions limited by 6 month laboratory requirement – likely 3 positions available for 2023
- Must have: MBBS or equivalent, completed all BPT training time, passed RACP Examination
Paediatric Haematology Trainee
- successful applicants will be accepted into Paediatric Haematology Training
- applicants will be assessed according to the application category
- Must have: MBBS or equivalent, completed all BPT training time, passed RACP Examination (Paeds)
Interstate and New Zealand Trained
- applicants will be assessed according to the application category
- Applicants who are already in a Haematology training program should contact HAT@rcpa.edu.au as soon as possible
- Must have: MBBS or equivalent, completed all BPT training time, passed RACP Examination
Overseas Trained Specialist (OTS)
- Applicants will be assessed according to the application category
- Applicants will only be assessed if positions remain unfilled by local applicants
- Must have: MBBS or equivalent, AMC Report 1 (RCPA), eligible for limited registration (AHPRA)
