Meet Emma Leehane, BA/BT

Emma Leehane is a Yorta Yorta woman of mixed decent and a Ballarat girl born and bred. Her field of expertise is education and she has been teaching in various capacities for the past 20 years. Emma has taught around Australia as a classroom teacher and in two roles as an Indigenous Education Officer.
She is currently working for Ballarat Health Services in the role of Team Leader of the Aboriginal Health Team. Her team is dedicated in providing culturally safe healthcare for their community and work closely with staff to strive to continually improve the pathways for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in the health system. They also work closely with their colleagues to assist them in delivering culturally appropriate and effective clinical care.
Emma is passionate about her community and culture. She feels it is important for them to unite and stand strong to support each other across the nation and educate those around her of the significance of one of the oldest living cultures as a part of Australian society.
