DESCRIPTION:The HTGR program is open to International Medical Graduates (IMGs) employed or about to commence employment within the Australian Health System (Hospital-based and General Practice) in all Australian states/territories. \nThe program integrates all required non-hospital/practice specific orientation content to assist with the initial 3 month orientation reporting requirement to Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) / Medical Board of Australia (MBA). \nThe program covers the following sessions: \nLegislation and Professional Practice\n– Legislative Frameworks\, including the Coroner’s Act\n– Litigation and Indemnity\n– Patient rights and responsibilities\, Patient complaints Patient\n– Consent and Adolescent Autonomy\n– Child Safety\n– Access to health/medical records and Confidentiality\n\nFirst Nations Australians Cultural Awareness\n– History of Aboriginal culture\, colonisation\, and government policy\n– Understanding/concept of health\n– Aboriginal Health Issues\n– Working with Aboriginal patients \nCommunication & Cultural Safety in the workplace\n– Cultural awareness; safety; respect and competence\n– Doctor – patient relationship\n– Communication Strategies \nOrientation to the Australian Healthcare System\n– Structure & Funding\n– Medicare Australia\n– Prescribing – Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme Provider & Prescriber Numbers\n– Interface between private and public health services \nSchedule \nAll times are in Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT). \n\n\n\n\nPart 1 – 20th May 2026\n\n\n\n\nRegistration\n7:45 – 8:00\nPMCV\n\n\nFirst Nations Cultural Awareness\n8:00 – 10:00\nMs Emma Leehane\n\n\nBreak\n10:00 – 10:30\n\n\n\nLegislation and Professional Practice\n10:30 – 12:30\nA/Prof Jo-Anne Mazzeo\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPart 2 – 22nd May 2026\n\n\n\n\nOrientation to the Australian Healthcare System\n14:45 – 16:30\nDr Sean Fabri\n\n\nBreak\n16:30 – 17:00\n\n\n\nCommunication and Cultural Safety\n17:00 – 19:00\nDr Sean Fabri\n\n\n\n\nClick here to Register\nCancellations & rescheduling:  \nPMCV courses are subject to minimum and maximum group numbers. Courses may be cancelled or postponed if minimum numbers are not achieved by the scheduled date. Courses may close prior to the start date if the maximum numbers are achieved.
