2026 Victorian Prevocational Medical Training Awards

PMCV are hosting the Victorian Prevocational Medical Training Awards on Friday the 23rd of October 2026. 

Following the success of last year’s event we are bringing the awards back for 2026! This year the event will be held at the Glasshouse Melbourne.

Join us, along with colleagues, leaders and industry partners from across the sector, as we honour innovation, excellence, and the future of prevocational training in Victoria.

Awards Nominations

Nominations for this year’s awards are now open until 11:59pm on the 31st of July.

Victorian Clinical Educator of the Year Award

This award acknowledges a clinical educator who has made major contributions to the education and training of PGY1s and PGY2s within their health service.

Health Service Innovation and Excellence Award

This award highlights both a metropolitan and a regional/rural health service who has initiated an outstanding innovation within their organisation that has had a positive impact on their prevocational doctors.

Medical Education Officer of the Year Award

This award recognises an exceptional Medical Education Officer (MEO) who fosters positive culture to ensure that the prevocational training program maintains a high-quality standard.

Medical Workforce Officer of the Year Award

This award recognises Medical Workforce Unit staff who demonstrate excellence in their role and consistently go above and beyond their usual position responsibilities to support peers and prevocational doctors.

2025 Award Winners

The inaugural Victorian Prevocational Medical Training Awards were held on the 16th of October 2025 at Swanston Hall. 

The awards winners were as follows:

  • Most Outstanding Contribution to JMO Victoria Committee – Dr Adam Wahab
  • JMO Victoria Health Service Representative of the Year – Dr Holly Hayes, Goulburn Valley Health
  • Metropolitan Health Service Innovation and Excellence Award – Northern Health ‘Introduction to Clinical Governance’ program
  • Regional Health Service Innovation and Excellence Award – Echuca Regional Health, ‘Culture Safety and Inclusion’ program
  • Victorian Clinical Educator of the Year – Dr Hussain Rabia, Echuca Regional Health
  • Victorian Prevocational Doctor of the Year – Dr Karanjeet Chauhan, Royal Melbourne Hospital
  • Recognition of Service – Associate Professor Jonathan Knott
  • Recognition of Service – Professor Michelle Leech
  • Lifetime Achievement Award – Professor Lou Irving
