In a collaboration between the Victorian and Tasmanian Heads of Orthopaedic Units and the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV), the PMCV will administer a centralised Allocation and Placement Service (APS) for Orthopaedic Unaccredited Registrar Match positions offered by metropolitan and regional health services in both Victoria and Tasmania, and to the candidates applying for these posts.
This match is for unaccredited training positions commencing in 2026.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for selection as an Orthopaedic Unaccredited Registrar applicants must meet the below requirements:
- holds a medical degree recognised for registration purposes.
- has general registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- have completed at least two year’s medical experience post primary medical degree.
Residential qualification
Employing Health Service(s) or institutions may have citizenship/residency requirements which need consideration in appointment decisions. Australian and New Zealand citizens and applicants with permanent residency who are eligible for appointment will be offered positions before those with temporary visas.
Note for overseas trained doctors
Overseas trained specialists in Orthopaedic Surgery must be residing in Australia and hold a valid working visa for their application to be considered by the employing health services.
